Writer/Editor Seeking Artist for Anthology ASAP (PAID)

Hello,

Been lurking the board for a while, but now have an emergency need to post.

I've been working on a Kickstarter project for a bit (which will be explained in greater detail below), but one of the collaborators seems to have flaked out on me at the eleventh hour, so I'm hoping to find a suitable replacement. I found that artist during my lurks on this board, so I'm confident I can find someone else of similar quality (but obviously more reliable).

I apologize ahead of time for the long post, but I want to be thorough here...

A little about myself:

My name is Chad Stroup. I received my MFA in Fiction from San Diego State University, and have published a few short stories, most notably in the Grey Matter Press anthology "Splatterlands," but my work has also appeared in Creature Stew, Bete Noire, Fiction International, the HWA Poetry Showcase, and many more. My work has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and the AWP Intro Journals Award. I am also a member of the Horror Writers Association.

About the project:

As you can probably guess, the anthology I am editing/partially writing is horror in nature. In the tradition of Creepy, Flinch, Gore Shriek, Taboo, etc., but more on the subversive edge of the genre (think David Cronenberg, but in comic form). The title of the series is Phantom Brain. I will be writing two stories, and Shane Roeschlein, creator of Caustic Soda, will be writing a third.

If you think you are up to snuff with some of these artists, please keep reading and I'll tell you about my plans.

-I've allowed up to $100/per page in my budget for pencils and inks (the story in question will be 7-8 pages), so I definitely need someone who can perform both tasks. The internal art will all be black and white.

-Since I do not have funds of my own to get this project rolling, the Kickstarter is meant to pay for the entire project. Thus, I have worked out a deal with all collaborators that no actual new artwork will be created unless/until the Kickstarter is successful, because I cannot pay anyone otherwise. Of course, if it is successful, then the money to pay for your work will exist and the project can officially get rolling. It's a bit of a non-traditional/tricky way of attempting a Kickstarter campaign, but it's the only way I can afford to do it and I think the talents involved will be the key. All I ask up front is that everyone involved promote the Kickstarter in any way they can (social media, word of mouth, whatever).

-There will be potential to earn perhaps a few extra bucks in the event of the Kickstarter reaching certain stretch goals. Also, some of the artists have agreed to provide a signed print for reward tiers (to be printed after the comic art is completed, naturally), which will potentially bring in a few extra bucks for said artists. We can discuss this further if you are the right fit for this project.

-As I said, I've been putting this together for a while and am set to launch the Kickstarter this coming weekend (yikes!) so I can make some promotional flyers for the Kickstarter and spread them around at San Diego Comic-Con next week. So I'm in a bind and I need a replacement artist FAST. Like yesterday.

Here's all I would need immediately from the artist I choose (promotional stuff for the Kickstarter page):

-A Head Shot jpeg

-2-3 jpegs of your previous work (obviously I prefer someone who has had a little experience, but the most important thing is finding someone with the magic touch to their art. And, of course, someone who is dedicated and reliable). Probably best to avoid anything with licensed characters.

Since my time is super limited and the clock is ticking as I type this, I'll only respond to the one or two people that I might be interested in. Sorry...I hate that approach too, but hopefully everyone understands. I will be checking back periodically tonight and hopefully throughout the day tomorrow, but I will be at work, so whomever I choose may or may not hear from me until tomorrow night (but hopefully sooner if I find time on a break).
